Late night rootcandy update

Submitted by sign on Sun, 02/24/2008 - 01:07.

root candy teaser

Another late night update on RootCandy. I made quite a lot of changes. Including redesign and now I am using Oxygen icons now which comes under GPL licence and they look better than Tango though.

Update 24/02 - screenshots with iconify module

Again you can get the latest code from drupal cvs (http://drupal.org/project/rootcandy) or you can download tarball on projects page.

I haven't tested it under IE or others, only on firefox2, planning to do that later.

Upcoming

You can see that there is an icon dashboard, inspired from usability group mockups. That should link to standard /admin page.
In upcoming 'release' I want to fix lots of issues of course :) including ie fixes (if there are any ;), theme isn't really fluid, more ajax callbacks, work with color module, and others... :) If you have some ideas fill an issue on d.o.!

Some screenshots from current version:

With iconify module
Btw if you want to use iconify module, you will have to check it out from cvs and then apply this patch to make it compatible with D6.

And how it will look like (probably):

Thanks for your attention, comments and ideas :)

Drupal Administration Menu compatibility

This looks great! I hope you'll be able to finalize a first official release soon.

One thing I'd like to add: It would be great if there was a fallback for users of the Drupal Administration Menu. It renders a similar bar at the top of the viewport which includes all administrative menu items, a Devel module integration, and some more fancy stuff. If you'd put a simple module_exists('admin_menu') condition into this theme in front of outputting the built-in bar, that would be great.

Nice! Any chance you plan to backport this to Drupal 5? Most of us won't be switching to D6 for a while, when majority of the modules are D6 ready.

iconify?

Looks very good. Pitty it isn't for commercial use, thought.
How about intergating with iconify?

I have just tried iconify module, and works very well with this theme. You can see screenshots in post.

I wanted to try it if it works, there isn't a version for D6 yet. But I think there won't be any problem to run this module together with theme.

Once version 6 will be

Once version 6 is finished (at least almost finished) I can backport it. Don't want to spend time on it, as it is still being developed. Any volunteers? :P

exit icon

This looks wonderfull, only the shutdown icon seems a bit extreme, isn't there a logout icon, or exit icon that would fit the function of the button better.

Yes you are right, it should be something more related to exit or log out than switch off your drupal ;)

Just one queston about your

Just one queston about your theme:
Why you are creating such nice drupal theme just for admins? It could be nice to extend this theme in order to have full-featured theme.

Actually that's an interesting idea. ;) I really didn't think about this, as it was my goal to create just admin theme. We will see, once admin section is done. :)
